Accurate bookkeeping and the maintenance of the Club's financial records are fundamental to the provision of financial control for any football club. It is this function that provides the cornerstone to all of the Club's commercial needs. Reliable and accurate bookkeeping starts at the turnstiles, therefore, the financial reporting has to be accurate so that all clubs maintain accurate accounting records. Whether it be for a limited company, CIC or Membership Clubs, keeping precise records is necessary.
Reliable and accurate bookkeeping enables efficient and accurate accounting and represents the sound foundation of any accounting system, which in turn enables management information and other reporting, such as VAT, payment of players' salaries or expenses to be performed accurately and promptly. It is our view that insufficient attention is given to the bookkeeping within Clubs which in turn leads to inefficient processes and increased compliance costs in later stages of the accounting process. It is our opinion whilst you may recognize the importance of this function, you are not always in a position due to time constraints and more important football matters give it the attention that it requires.
